Photography is my passion, some would say my obsession.
I have been interested in photography since the age of 10 and spent many happy hours in the darkroom processing monochrome images. Even now this passion continues to evolve. In the early 2000’s I bought my first digital camera, a Kodak. At the time I thought ‘This will not catch on’ - little did I know, and I now combine Digital Photography with my joy of computers. I shoot with Canon DSLR / Mirrorless cameras and iPhone.
My Photography has always had a strong experimental edge. I photograph just about everything. Around 2014 I became interested in Multiple Exposures and over the last few years this has now developed into a full-blown obsession.
In camera multiple exposure and post processing on the computer or iPad to create abstract / impressionistic images are now part of my daily life. This joy is overwhelming as you never really know just what will come out of the file and ‘Your Brain’
I take photographs of practically anything but of late I find myself being drawn to photographing
- creative photography, abstract photography, architecture, nature and close up / macro work, people / street photography.
The Royal Photographic Society
I gained the The Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) in 2013. This is the first level of Distinction awarded by them and is open to all members of the society. You can see my panel here and a slide show of the images are here
I am currently working on a project photographing Cathedrals. My latest ‘obsession’ is to take my photography in a creative direction by manipulating photographs in Photoshop. As a result I started to put together 15 images for submission to the RPS for consideration for a Associateship Distinction and in March 2016 I achieved this in the Creative Visual Art category.
Club
I am active member of the Cambridge Camera Club and their President for the 2016 / 2017 Season.
I was then asked to be the President again in 2022, this time for two years. I finish this role in May 2024.
Blogging
I am an active blogger and regularly upload images to Instagram.
On the 8th April 2020 I started a Project 365 on Blipfoto. I did not stop until day 1300, when I thought 'When and I going to stop' and decided that, on that day, that was enough :)
